Monotypes, known as “the painterly prints”, combine with collage in this fun, experimental workshop. Students will learn how to create visually free but technically precise prints by using watercolor paints and vellum. Students will then respond to their prints by collaging back into them with various cut and assembled imagery. All materials will be provided, however, students are encouraged to bring photographs, textures, mixed paper samples… anything they feel inspired to collage with. Students will get a sense of how it feels to work in a communal space surrounded by artists with similar interests. Students will also learn how to use and respect a large fine art press. Each student will have time to work on several unique prints during the class.
