SPF’24 Exhibitors

SPF brings together a diverse cross-section of local artists, independent publishers and regional small presses to exhibit, share and trade creations in print, book and zine. We've broken down exhibitors into two sections:

Beach Front | the best real estate at the fair. Perfect for independent publishers, small presses, universities, collections and other institutional exhibitors. These double-wide spaces include a large table, 2 chairs and premo placement in a 10 x 6 ft area.

Zine Dunes | a gritty concentration of zine energy. Perfect for individual artists, printers, collectives and small organizations. These spaces are about 6 x 4 ft and are byo-table and chair.

Deep Seeded: Jacoub Reyes

Deep-Seeded explores the connections between native and invasive plant species as metaphors for the impacts of colonialism on people and the environment. Invasive plants symbolize the disruption and displacement wrought by colonial powers, paralleling the cultural erasure faced by native communities. Native species represent resistance, adaptability, and the enduring connections of these communities to their heritage and ecosystems. Through a series of woodblock prints, the exhibition invites dialogue about environmental justice and encourages viewers to reflect on how these botanical narratives echo the histories of colonization. By reclaiming ancestral knowledge and understanding the legacies of colonialism, we can foster equitable relationships with both nature and one another.

Jacoub Reyes is a multidisciplinary artist based in South Florida, primarily working in printmaking and large-scale installation. His work utilizes experimental techniques to unravel his complex mixed-cultural heritage to build an imagined future based on belonging and resistance. He has had exhibitions and interactive public performances at the Asian Art Museum, The Crisp-Ellert Art Museum, Museum of Latin American Art, Highpoint Center for Printmaking, and Print Center New York, among others. Reyes received awards and fellowships from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant, South Florida Cultural Consortium Grant, The Puffin Foundation, and Allies in Arts Grant. Notable residencies include the Institute for Electronic Arts Print Media Residency (2024), MAC en el Barrio Residency at Hunter College, NYC (2023), UCSF's Library Artist in Residence (2022), and Ma's House BIPOC Artist Residency (2021). He is currently the President of the Florida Printmakers Society.
