SPF'16: Saturday, Nov 12, 2016
SPF Fort Lauderdale launched on Saturday, November 12, 2016. Organized by Girls' Club and IS Projects, the event drew more than 50 exhibitors, and just about 400 visitors to our gathering of print, artist book and zine makers.

The Market
SPF'16 took place at ArtsUp Concepts in FATVillage at 521 NW 1 Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, and will bring together a diverse cross-section of local artists, writers, independent publishers and regional small presses in the 5000+ square foot venue.
Exhibitor Sections
Zine Dunes | a gritty concentration of zine energy. Find individual artists, printers, musicians, small organizations and collectives at these byo-table spaces
Beach Front | the best real estate at the fair. Find independent publishers, small presses, universities, collections and other institutional exhibitors at these double-wide spaces.
Demos and Creation Stations
The Steamroller
Ingrid Schindall of IS Projects leads this giant print demonstration with a construction grade steamrollers, pressing prints as large as 40 x 90 inches. Artists are invited to bring their own giant blocks, try out our large format relief workshop, or just come enjoy the spectacle.
Risograph Printing with Portable Editions
Portable Editions led a collaborative and communal zine production line! Artists Juana Menses and Leila Leder Kremer of Portable Editions were on hand with the Riso EZ 220, for a live Risograph printing and zine making demonstration on the Riso, a stencil duplicator. Editions of the zine, created and printed on site, were launched at SPF'16.
Screen Printing with NSU Art Department
Artists and professors Tennille Shuster and Kandy Lopez with students from the NSU Art Department led live screen printing sessions during SPF'16! They printing off 100 SPF'16 tote bags for sale and ran audience-sourced items on the press through out the day.
Letterpress Printing with IS Projects
Noctunral Press studio manager Jessica Condon from IS Projects led ongoing demonstration of a vintage letterpress, pressing postcards and small items all day.
The Stage
The stage at SPF Fort Lauderdale presents a series of short discussions, talks and readings from artists, authors, publishers, scholars and print-enablers to further facilitate a dialogue about print, book and zine culture in South Florida and beyond.
SPF'16 readings were organized by Orange Island Arts Foundation and Reading Queer and featured Laura McDermott, Sergio Mora, E. Parker Phillips, J.V. Portela, and others.
