In this beginner-friendly workshop, fast, flexible, and portable approaches for building and printing images will be explored as tools for documentation, social commentary, and community-building. The workshop will begin with a discussion of contemporary works that use printmaking as a tool for political and social activism. After a demonstration of simple monoprint, collagraph, and relief techniques, we'll generate a small collection of prints based on issues that matter to you. All of the techniques learned can be completed indoors or out, without a printing press and using only a small set of easy-to-transport tools.
